Rainbow, China’s largest agrichemical exporter, is set to expand its contribution to the Australian crop protection industry with a broader product portfolio, enhanced facilities, and a strengthened management and field team.
Previously known as OzCrop in Australia, the company has now fully embraced the Rainbow name, reinforcing its commitment to a full-service, customer-focused business model in partnership with retailers.
Backed by strength, efficiency, value, and market confidence, Rainbow is ready to make a significant impact.
Global powerhouse with local focus
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Rainbow operates in more than 100 countries through more than 110 international subsidiaries.
With six manufacturing plants in China and additional facilities in the US, Argentina, and Spain, Rainbow has held the title of China’s No.1 agrichemical exporter since 2020 and entered the global top 10 in 2023.
Focusing exclusively on crop protection, Rainbow has built a reputation for excellence, with hundreds of automated production lines ensuring fast, high-quality product delivery worldwide.
By managing production entirely in-house, the company maintains full control over its portfolio, packaging, and quality assurance, allowing for rapid market responsiveness.
Investing in Australia: growth, expertise, and stronger partnerships
Rainbow operates eight distribution warehouses across Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, NSW, and Queensland, with further investments planned to expand facilities, product offerings, and local team capabilities.
Leading the Australian business is Darrin Hines, a highly respected industry veteran with nearly 30 years of experience in regional and national leadership roles.
His deep relationships with the distribution network bring stability and confidence to Rainbow’s expansion in Australia.
“The strength of our team is a key part of our strategy,” Darrin explains.
“We’ve welcomed several experienced industry professionals across development, regulatory affairs, supply chain operations, and customer service – all of whom are helping to re ne our efficient, straightforward, and trust-driven approach with retail partners.”
A leader in o ff-patent crop protection
Rainbow is a major supplier of off-patent agrochemical products, which, despite reduced attention from some industry players, still account for around 70 per cent of the Australian market.
“Off-patent product manufacturing has always been at the core of Rainbow’s business, and we continue to meet strong market demand for these solutions,” Darrin says.
With 285 registered products in Australia and an additional 30-plus registrations expected between 2025 and 2027, Rainbow’s expanding portfolio includes several key molecules essential to the industry.
Rainbow’s manufacturing strength and warehousing capacity in Australia set it apart, ensuring products are readily available for shipment to customers.
“Our goal is to be a reliable and consistent supplier to the marketplace,” Darrin emphasises.

Expanding into non-crop solutions: introducing Rainbow Enviro
As part of its strategic expansion in Australia, Rainbow is also launching a non-crop product portfolio under the Rainbow Enviro brand.
Led by Adam Phelan, an expert in turf and allied industries, Rainbow Enviro will introduce a range of pest control and plant growth regulator products designed for amenity and recreational turf, gardens, forestry, waterways, and infrastructure.
“Rainbow Enviro will leverage the company’s strong foundation and expertise in crop protection to serve a broader range of green spaces,” Adam says.
The portfolio will feature around 50 products at launch, with an additional 10-12 in development.
“Our Enviro solutions will uphold the same quality, innovation, and expertise that Rainbow’s partners have come to expect,” he adds.
A bright future ahead
With its global manufacturing power, expanding local presence, and commitment to customer-driven solutions, Rainbow is poised to strengthen its role in the Australian crop protection industry.
As the company continues to grow, innovate, and invest, it remains focused on delivering value, reliability, and trust to its partners across the industry.
