After four years leading the Australian Seed Federation (ASF), Osman Mewett has joined BASF Agricultural Solutions as a global regulatory policy manager within the Seeds and Traits team.

Mr Mewett joins BASF after more than a decade working within agricultural industry associations, and prior to that with federal government policy and regulatory agencies.

Gavin Heard, BASF’s head of seeds and traits, Australia and New Zealand said “Osman brings with him vast experience and a wealth of knowledge on biotech regulatory policy in support of both established gene technologies and genome editing in Australia and overseas.

“He will be a great asset to BASF and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Mr Mewett said after building his career in the public sector and industry associations, he was really looking forward to bringing everything he’d learned over the past 20 years to his new role at BASF.

“Without enabling regulatory policies, there is no clear path to market for all of the incredible scientific R&D that will deliver sustainability and productivity solutions to our farmers to help them meet today’s global food challenges,” he said.

Osman will remain based in Australia, working with his global regulatory policy colleagues in Belgium and the United States.
