Leading animal health company, Elanco, has announced the appointment of Alice Lewis as territory manager for southern NSW and David Rathbone as brand manager – sheep.

Raised on her family’s farm in south-western Victoria, Alice studied agriculture throughout her secondary schooling before spending a memorable gap year as an agricultural assistant with an outdoor education school in Victoria’s High Country.

Alice graduated with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, majoring in livestock production and animal health, from Charles Sturt University in 2022.

She completed a three-month industry graduate placement program before joining a large-scale sheep farm in southern NSW for two years.

Elanco farm animal business unit head, Jamie Dowsley, says Alice brings a great blend of practical experience and academic knowledge to her new role.

“Alice exudes a passion for agriculture and livestock production, and is particularly interested in animal husbandry, animal health, nutrition, genetics and traceability,” he says.

“She is a great ‘people person’ who has shown her ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks around her.

Brand manager David Rathbone.

“She is going to be a great ambassador for Elanco.”

Alice replaces senior territory manager, David Rathbone, who has been appointed brand manager for the company’s flagship sheep brands, including CLiK Extra blowfly strike preventative; Zolvix Plus broad spectrum sheep drench; and Extinosad Pour-On and Viper Pour-On sheep lousicides.

Raised on a sheep farm at Tullamore in central NSW, David graduated with a Bachelor of Animal Science degree from Charles Sturt University in 2010.

He spent six years in the rural merchandise sector before joining Elanco as a territory manager in 2017.

Based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, he provided technical support to resellers and livestock producers throughout the Riverina, south-west slopes, southern tablelands and the Monaro.

“During this time, David successfully managed the largest sales territory for our sheep brand portfolio,” Jamie says.

“David’s in-depth skills in sales, account management and technical knowledge have seen him named Elanco Salesperson of the Year on two occasions and he is recognised as a rising leader in the Elanco business.

“This 12-month secondment provides David with the opportunity to further his interests in marketing, communications and product management with a portfolio that he is very passionate about.”

In turn, David replaces Dr Kathryn Humphries, who has taken on a trans-Tasman secondment role within Elanco.
