Azelis, a life sciences company with a global footprint has recently established a presence in Australia.

With a turnover exceeding €3 billion ($4.4 billion AUD), Azelis serves the agriculture, pharmaceuticals, industrial, food intermediates and personal care markets.

When it comes to agriculture, Azelis will be bringing its expertise and product range to both the Australian animal health and cropping market, says Phil Kelly, national commercial manager for agri and environmental solutions.

He said Azelis has global agreements with manufacturers to bring new products and technologies to Australian agriculture that deliver financial and environmental sustainability and return on investment for both distributors and their grower customers.

“Within the cropping sector we have products suitable for the broadacre segment (dryland and irrigated) as well as horticulture – including protected cropping and hydroponics,” Mr Kelly said.

“We currently market a range of products in Australia but will be looking to register and introduce new products and formulations for the local market and partner with distributors and resellers to commercialise them.

“Azelis has a pipeline of new products across a range of segments, including new crop nutrition technology from our South Korea and European counterparts. We also have a glyphosate tank mix partner to improve knockdown and overall efficacy. This product is used extensively in North America.

“These new products are just a couple of examples of what is currently available for us to develop for the Australian market. We also have more in the pipeline due to our current expanding supplier agreements.”

Reflecting their wider knowledge of agriculture, Azelis also has an established business in Australia providing components and technical expertise for agvet formulations.

“We provide a range of components to local agrochemical and animal health formulators,” said Vince Tang, national business manager for formulation and environmental solutions.

Vincent Tang.

“In addition to supplying surfactants, emulsifiers, antifoaming and dispersing agents to Australian formulators, we can utilise the services and knowledge of our worldwide laboratories to ‘tailor make’ formulation solutions for the unique conditions faced in Australia.

“Its value adding that few other companies can provide their customers – and being a global company, Azelis has an extensive supply chain network to ensure timely delivery.”

Mr Kelly said two of the well-known brands that Azelis supplies to the Australian market are the Librel EDTA and Libfer EDDHA chelated plant nutrition products.

“The Librel and Libfer brands are renowned for their efficacy and performance and Azelis is the sole supplier of these products to the Australian market.

“Librel and Libfer have been used for over 30 years by the best growers across Australia. They have proven to be convenient to use and very cost effective.

“In addition to top performance, Libfer and Librel dissolve rapidly and have good compatibility with other products. The fine granules of these trace element chelates are made to EU standards, meaning they are highly uniform in size and composition, making these brands highly valued by growers.”

With many years of experience working in the crop protection and nutrition markets across Australia, Mr Kelly said the size and scope of Azelis, and the resources they have at their disposal to develop products, will mean they are able to expand their Australian product portfolio quickly.

“Our existing products, and pipeline of new products are going to deliver benefits for Australian growers and represent a great profit opportunity for distributors and a point of difference for their business.

“We look forward to having discussions with distributors who can partner with us and have the capability to steward our current and future offering into the Australian market.”
